summary sentences, Day 1 SL4

Homer core, Day 1 Skill level 4 --
I will be teaching my students about summary sentences this week. One way I was thinking of having them find the main essence is to consider the skeleton of the sentences. Wouldn't this show the main idea of each sentence? Then they could go through these to determine the main idea of the paragraph. So my question to you is: Does this make sense or would this lead to other problems/issues?

It makes sense to me. Sometimes the subject/verb skeleton may omit some necessary information -- you can keep your eyes open for that sort of thing as it comes up, and have your students consider what to do in those cases.
